Wood is currently recruiting for an offshore Control Room Operator with strong production technician capabilities and preferably previous international offshore oil & gas experience.
The position is based in the Eastern Mediterranean region, the normal working rotation 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off.
Our client are operating 2 fields, located Offshore East Mediterranean, the operation of the fields is undertaken using a newly-build, spread-moored gas FPSO unit to process gas and associated liquids from subsea wells. Dry pipeline spec gas is produced and piped through a gas export line to an onshore facility in East Mediterranean while the recoverable liquids (light Oil and Condensate) is tandem offloaded into tankers from the FPSO.
The Control Room Operator works as part of a multi-disciplined team based offshore onboard the FPSO. The role will require the CRO to carry out the operation of all Oil and Gas production facility and associated utility related equipment, safely and efficiently and to ensure safe and reliable operation of the installation.
Specific Tasks – Operational (Offshore)
- Monitor that all machinery is operated in a safe manner and that all operations are carried out according to correct and safe procedures as directed
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of process plant, systems and association equipment
- Demonstration and acceptance of walk down, pre-check of system for handover
- Ensure understanding of operating processes and procedures and roles and responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of start-up, operation, optimization and shut down of process and process-related plant, gas compression and gas systems, utility systems, etc.
- Carry out appropriate mechanical isolations of equipment in full compliance with isolation standards and PTW requirements.
- Carry our return to service integrity testing programs and working with specialist contractors to execute in an efficient manner.
- Administer the PTW system as required.
- Check out work covered by commissioning/acceptance documentation to ensure systems are as outlined/operational and signs documentation to this effect.
- Ability to carry out red line mark ups and progress them through the MOC process.
- Identify any degradations in SECE’s and highlight for priority rectification and participate in compilation of ORA’s where appropriate.
- Required to assist and work with other disciplines when required, where multi-skilling within a team culture is a major area of development on the facility
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and ensure work is executed in line with Energean Permit to Work system
- Put forward suggestions and develop modification requests as necessary to improve plant/equipment efficiency/safety operations.
- Ability to interpret /mark-up of technical drawings
- Take samples of process fluids and produced water and analyze samples
- Ensure safe and efficient management of chemicals
- When competent act as area authority to ensure control of worksites under their sphere of influence
- Raise maintenance work orders to capture anomalies found during operations activities
- Prior to start-up of any plant or equipment, inspect and confirm suitability to return to normal service
- Maintains good housekeeping conditions in all work sites
- Ensure “as built” drawings are updated and on passed through Document Control via Supervisor
- Act as part of the Emergency Response Team as required.
Minimum Qualification / Experience:
- Technical training to at least HNC/HND level or equivalent qualification.
- Extensive practical knowledge of process / systems plant and equipment relevant to the industry sector in own discipline area
- Experienced technician with process and / or utilities operations technician experience within an offshore production operation environment
- Knowledge of fire and gas detection and ESD systems
- Extensive experience of the European Safety Directive / Safety Case method of operation
- Knowledge of MAH’s and the associated SECE’s
