POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Human Resources is a member of the Cyprus property’s executive committee, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources. The VP HR will also have a dotted reporting line to GM and Head of the Property ensuring business priorities and needs are addressed. The incumbent is a critical partner to the GM and Head of the Property making certain the property embraces a culture of service excellence as well as reflection of the global brand standards. Functionally, this individual is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources functions which include, but are not limited to, HR business partnering, recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation and benefits, policies and procedures, reporting & analytics, HR operations & administration, all in alignment with corporate standards and policies
The biggest responsibility for the VP HR is to lead the resort, hiring up to 2000 people, in over 50 job categories comprising of hospitality, retail, culinary, restaurants, MICE, entertainment, gaming operations and corporate functions. This position leads a large HR division and must be able to lead, direct, vision the various disciplines to provide the strategic and tactical leadership and add value.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Head of Property and its business leaders to understand the business and functional needs and provides support as needed, providing proactive HR business partnering solutions encompassing functional human resources disciplines, relevant corporate policy & guidelines, labour law, market guidelines & practices;
- Responsible for all functional disciplines of human resources, including talent acquisition, training, business partnering, HR operations & administration, reporting & analytics, engagement methods and processes. Provides leadership, directions and hands-on management as needed, to ensure effectiveness and value;
- Works with Corporate leaders and various divisions/departments to implement and facilitate policies and processes, providing guidance, insight and legal advice;
- Implements core corporate HR programs, policies, practices, processes, and works together to ensure alignment with the principles, spirit and its intention. Provides feedback on market, industry, legal applicability, to include annual review processes, discretionary bonus programs, governance and compliance training programs, and others;
- Ensures HR processes and operations are implemented and administered to meet the corporate and governance standards of internal audits and compliance as well as local statutory requirements;
- Works closely with the Head of the Property to ensure a culture to deliver world-class service, quality, and excellence through the people, creating a culture of engaged workplace, united in the achievement of building the best IR in Europe;
- Responsible for the fiscal accountabilities of the HR function, including budgets, and works closely with the Head of the Property to facilitate the same as they related to people issues with other business units;

- Keeps apprised of industry and market practices and guidelines for the industry, as well as emerging issues;
- Manages the compensation and benefits matters to ensure internal equity, market practices and guidelines, based on data, research, and analytics of internal measures;
- Ensures effective engagement programs, processes and insights through having a pulse of the organizational climate, using both personal and individual relationships and “ ears to the ground” in addition to formalized structure of feedback/engagement including focus groups, surveys and other feedback/response mechanisms;
- Oversee the effective onboarding and administrating of staff mobility, international transfer matters based on company guidelines;
- Ad hoc HR project as and when required.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
The Successful incumbent:
- Is adaptive to corporate policies, practices, guidelines, yet courageous enough to push back where if and when it is felt that it may not be within local market practices. Must be flexible to accept the final outcome, if it differs from own views, and implement and champion the cause whole heartedly;
- Will have the pulse of the organization at all times, and be able to advise the management;
- Understands international operations, either from working abroad and/or working at international companies operating in Cyprus;
- Is Experienced in working with publicly listed companies and understanding the processes, policies and the governance responsibilities & structure;
- Is experienced in working with matrix organizations and managing and understanding the roles, accountabilities and responsibilities, both as a participant as well as coaching others;
- Demonstrates a highly commercial aptitude and be comfortable with numerical metrics, and have analytical skills in both quantitative and qualitative issues; candidate must be able to think and communicate financially, strategically, logically, persuasively;
- Possesses the expected people EQ, but equally able to make tough decisions and drive results;
- Looks for ways to achieve results with innovative approaches even when faced with barriers and challenges;
- Commands strong communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to articulate clearly and concisely;
- Is hands-on to ensure the operations are implemented appropriately, yet strategic in shaping and managing to drive the big picture;
- Will have demonstrated track record of being successful in a challenged, complex and fast-paced organizations and deadlines;
- Will have extensive experience and knowledge with organization engagement matters, therefore, have insight and wisdom in the analysis, interpretation, and implementation of effective engagement through qualitative and quantitative tools, guided by professional experience.
Mandatory qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of Senior Human Resources leadership experience in equivalent size and scale organization, or have the ability to cope with the size, scale, pace and the requirements of a publicly listed and large consumer-driven industry, preferably luxury hospitality;
- Bachelor’s degree, but will consider extensive professional experience in related senior role, with successful experience with demonstrated ability to think critically;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in running a sizeable HR division, to enable leadership direction, insight and organization of the different disciplines and managing clear roles & responsibilities to support the business challenges, beginning from the preopening of the resort to its operations upon opening;
- Thorough understanding of the local Cyprus market, related industry, trends, labour laws, benefits, compensation & benefits structure, and other related professional disciplines in the function;
- Fluent English, written & oral; and demonstrated ability to handle written communication, related to policy and procedural matters, but also strategic internal communication which requires sensitivity to the nuances of understanding context, content and constituents;
- Experience in related industry, specifically in luxury hospitality and casino, but more important is the individual’s ability to transfer the core human resources discipline to a new industry.
- Essential understanding the luxury segment in customer/consumer driven businesses. This compels the driving of the essential standards and values in the hiring, training, service culture development, and all components of creating world class service delivery to the customers, and the implications of how this is executed;
- Ability to be effective handling multiple priorities, time and resource constraints and other challenges is essential;
- Must be both hands-on and strategic;
- Possess high level of integrity, confidentiality, and work ethics and be able to translate this in managing own team.
Highly desirable but not essential:
- Experience in Preopening of large resorts of similar scale and size, including casino operations; however, individual is an organized thinker and “do-er “ who can determine the pathways and processes through logical mapping t to determine a large scale opening, even if no direct experience;
- Experience in the casino industry will be given high considerations but must be accompanied by luxury hospitality industry to ensure the understanding the training, recruitment of the myriad of functions, jobs and roles;
- 5 plus years’ experience as the Head of HR role in large, established MNC’s, with strong professional human resources discipline background;
- Experience in International companies.
